Wieland’s third novel, The Ghosts of Okuma, is forthcoming from Regal House Publishing in 2026.

On sabbatical in the fall of 2024, Wieland wrote a screenplay adaptation of The Ghosts of Okuma.
“The Last Days of Ferrell Swan,” a short story, is forthcoming from Limberlost Press.
“Snow Angels”—an excerpt from The Ghosts of Okuma—was reprinted in the 2023 anthology Hello, I Love You: Stories of Romance. The story first appeared in The Missouri Review in 2015.

Wieland co-wrote the screenplay for Letting Loose the Hounds, based on Brady Udall’s short story from The Paris Review. The 2022 short film stars David H. Stevens (Punch Drunk Love, The Crow: Salvation, The American West, Penny Dreadful, and Yellowstone).
A short story from Wieland’s last issue as editor of The Idaho Review in 2022 was included in The Best American Short Stories 2023. During the twenty issues of The Idaho Review that Wieland edited, seventeen stories where reprinted in the national prize anthologies: The Best American Short Stories, The O. Henry Prize Stories, The Pushcart Prize, and New Stories from the South. Another thirty stories were shortlisted for these same prize anthologies.
